Welcome to my portion of the SUDSOL Blog Tour! Whether you're beginning here or have come from Jennifer Blomquist's blog, I know you are going to enjoy the wonderful samples featuring products from the Occasions Mini Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. I'm excited about the projects I have to share with you, so let's get started!

This little 3X3 card was perfect for a make-n-take at my workshop this past Saturday. We used the hearts embossing folder from the Adorning Accents pack to add some texture to the Whisper White layer. The card is Real Red card stock. The hearts were stamped with the Candy Conversations stamp in Real Red Classic ink on Whisper White, then punched out with the Small Heart Punch and adhered to the card front with Mini Glue Dots. I was having fun embossing those little hearts the other day and came up with this project:

I love, love, love this little bag! Of course, it's even better in this picture:

Chocolate makes everything better. :-) Have you figured out what I used to make this bag yet? The Big Shot and the Scallop Square die, of course. And packing paper! I usually have plenty of it from my Stampin' Up! boxes. I just folded a strip and placed it on the die so that it would cut only three sides. Then I used white thread and my sewing machine to close up the two sides. I punched circles out of Cherry Cobbler, Pink Piroutte, and Crumb Cake card stocks. I ran the circles through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots, Stripes, and Adorning Accents hearts embossing folders. They are glued to the bag with Multipurpse Liquid Glue. I used a hole punch to make three holes on the side, threaded the ribbons (Crumb Cake taffeta, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, and Victoria Crochet Trim) through, and tied knots. I stamped "friend to friend" (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Cherry Cobbler is one of my favorite colors these days, so I used it to make this card:

This one features the Sprinkled Expressions set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I love this set! Here is the verse that goes with the flower image:

Hmmm... I think it's hard to read. It says "You make my whole face smile." Love it! For this card, I also used Cherry Cobbler Classic ink, the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Adorning Accents Edgelit Die and Embossing Folder, and Whisper White taffeta.

My last project for today is a totally different style using the You're My Type set from the Occasions Mini Catalog:

I stamped the typewriter in Early Espresso ink onto Crumb Cake card stock then layered it on Early Espresso. 1/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon is tied below the image and a Mini Library Clip is attatched at the top. I used the Big Shot and the Stripes embossing folder on the front of the Crumb Cake card. To make the stripes stand out, I inked up my brayer with Early Espresso ink and lightly rolled it over the card front. I used the 3/16" Corner punch on the corners on the right side then layered the card on Early Espresso. The typewriter piece is attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

Pash-annette Stampers Swap

I love doing a monthly swap with my downline and sideline. We have some very talented stampers among us. We took a break over the holidays, but started up again this month, just in time to play with our new Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration goodies. I got this in the mail yesterday:

My downline Jessica (actually 3rd level downline) made this one. I love these colors! She used the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Papers and the Outlined Occasions stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. (You can click on the link to the right to see the catalog.)

Baby Bib Card

I went to a baby shower on Saturday. I bought this bag for the present:

So I wanted to make a card that would match. I used Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery card stocks to make this:

I love the Fox and Friends set for babies! The button is a retired (sorry!) clear button with a Certainly Celery circle behind it. The inside is very simple:

Teeny Tiny Wishes, Whisper White Craft ink, and white embossing powder. Such a fun baby card!

Christmas to Valentine's... Take 3

Friday got away from me. So sorry! But I hope today's projects will make up for having to wait. This is the last project that I had for my 12 Weeks of Christmas:

My friend Jessica made it, and I absolutely love it! She used the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper and Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler card stocks. The Winter Wishes Stitched Felt was in the Holiday Mini Catalog and no longer available, but you could replace it with punch art, stamped images or create your own felt pieces. The letters were cut out using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies for the Big Shot. I think it would be great to make this now, and then be able to pull it out in December, all ready to go! :-) I love, love, love this dsp. It will probably only be available until May 31, so now's a great time to get it.

When I was trying to decide how to turn this Christmas idea into a Valentine's idea, I debated over several ideas. I thought about making one that said "love" and had hearts and other Valentine's embellishments. I know I would really like that! But then I saw an idea on Pinterest that I really liked, too. So my Valentine frame is this:

It says "I love you because..." You use a dry erase marker to complete the sentence. Then you can change your reason as often as you like. I started out making this with Riding Hood Red. I changed it for two reasons: 1) I didn't like the red with this frame that I had. 2) I decided I want to put this on our bathroom counter and Always Artichoke matches my bathroom. So it's not your traditional Valentine colors.

I used My Digital Studio to create my images. I just filled a page with the Designer Series Paper and created a text box for the words. I printed it on Whisper White card stock (it filled most of the page). I cut a 5X7 piece for the background, trimmed around the words, and layered them on Always Artichoke card stock. The hearts are punched out with the Heart to Heart punch from Always Artichoke and Brushed Gold card stocks. When I finally figured out what I wanted to do, this was extremely easy to put together!

Christmas to Valentine's... Take 2

This is the second of three Christmas projects that I didn't have a chance to share before Christmas:

Super cute gift card holder created by my friend Karen! She used the Holiday Stocking die to create it. The Two Tags die was used for the tag. The accent pieces were run through the Big Shot with the Snow Burst embossing folder. The Stocking die and the embossing folder were in the Holiday Mini Catalog but are still available. However, the Dear Santa stamp set that Karen used on the tag is not. (We may see it in the next big catalog; we'll find out in July!)

To create the background on the stocking, Karen placed her stamp pad directly on the card stock and pressed lightly. Now that you know that, you can probably see the rectangular outline; that's the edge of her stamp pad. She just repeated the process all of the stocking with two different colors. This is Karen's signature technique. :-) How is this a gift card holder, you ask? Well, simply cut out two stockings and glue them together, leaving the top edge open. (Note: Be sure your glue - I used Tombow Mulit - is just on the outside edge or your gift cards won't fit.) Wouldn't it be cute to have a tree full of stockings?! Hmmm, maybe next year. :-)

Ok, so I needed to turn a Christmas stocking into a Valentine's idea. I wasn't sure how I was going to do that, and then I saw an idea using Valentine socks to count down to Valentine's day. These days, they make socks for every holiday, so that's what I did:

I {Heart} Hearts stamp set, Real Red card stock, Very Vanilla Craft pad, clear embossing powder, and Victoria Crochet Trim.

I {Heart} Hearts stamp set, Whisper White card stock, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, and Pretty in Pink Classic pads, Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Rhinestone Brad, Heart to Heart punch.

Real Red and Whisper White card stock, Real Red marker, white gel pen.

The frame is one that I had been planning to put chicken wire in and haven't had time to finish. So instead, I stretched a piece of our hemp twine across the back and used some small clothes pins from my stash to hang the socks. I think I need to find a different colored wall to hang it on, but I do like the finished project. My kids will really like it if on Valentine's Day they find gift cards in those socks. :-)

If you haven't been buying and redoing old picture frames like me, you could just tack some twine to the wall to hangs some socks. Change them out for every holiday! Let's do some four leaf clovers for March, Easter eggs for April, flowers for May... It would be so fun to have a spot for a little treat each month.

Christmas to Valentine's... Take 1

Last week I mentioned that I didn't get to finish my 12 Weeks of Christmas email series - for various reasons - but I still wanted to share the projects with you. They're awesome! Some of us might actually start getting ready for Christmas 2012 now, but that would not be me. I'm doing good to be ready for today! So to make these projects relevant, I decided to turn them into Valentine's ideas. You get one today, one tomorrow and one on Friday. :-) I hope you enjoy them. Here's the project for today:

These wonderful gift bags were made by my friend Karen. She used the Letters from Santa Designer Series Papers to make the bags and the Stocking die for the Big Shot to make the tag. Here is my Valentine's version:

I used Basic Black (12X12), Whisper White, and Real Red card stocks. The hearts were made with the Heart to Heart and Small Heart punches and the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit. I embossed some of the hearts using the Stripes and Perfect Polk-a-Dots Embossing Folders. Here's a little detail for you:

For the handles, I used 5/8" Basic Black Satin Ribbon and 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain. I just put Snail on the back of the grosgrain to attach it to the satin ribbon.

Next time you need a gift bag, just grab this pattern and some of your scrapbooking supplies and make one to match the fabulous card I know you will already have made! :-) Download Gift_Bag_Pattern

More with Mittens

This was our second project at stamp club Monday night.

 
We cut two mitten shapes from Baja Breeze card stock, and stamped using the Serene Snowflakes stamp set and Whisper White Craft ink. We used Tombow Multi to glue the two pieces together, leaving the top open, so a gift card could slide down in. We used the Eyelet Border punch on two strips of Whisper White card stock and layered them to create a cuff. The snowflakes are made using Whisper White card stock and the Snowflake punch. Whisper White Organza and a Rhinstone Brad added just the right finishing touch. As promised, I'm sharing the pattern: Download Mitten Pattern_ideas

This pattern also works to create a card that fits in our medium envelopes. I will try to share a sample next week.

I also have some Christmas ideas that didn't get sent out with my 12 Weeks of Christmas. (craft shows, family Christmas things, no internet... just a few of the things that got in my way...) But these projects are too great not to share! So, next week I will be sharing my remaining three Christmas ideas (it's not too early to start getting ready for next Christmas!) along with how I have used those ideas to create some fun Valentine projects. Brrrr... It's cold outside!

Of course, it is January. And I don't even want to think about how long it's been since I blogged. But I have a couple of winter themed projects to share with you, so here I am. :-) We made this card at stamp club Monday night:

It's hard to see all of the detail with all of the white. But I love how this looks in real life! It's a standard 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inch Whisper White card. The layer is 4 X 5 1/4, run through the Big Shot with the Northern Flurries embossing folder, edges distressed with the Cutter Kit. I added some Basic Pearls to three of the embossed snowflakes. The mittens are made using the Extra-Large Oval and Heart to Heart punches. 1/2 X 1 1/2 inch strips make the cuffs on the mittens. (I used the corner rounder on all of the corners.) I glued the heart to the back of the oval and ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polk-a-Dots embossing folder. The cuffs were embossed using the Stripes embossing Folder and then glued to the ovals.  The little rectangle in the bottom right corner says "thank you" (Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set), stamped in Whisper White Craft ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I used the Cutter Kit on the edges of this piece as well. The mitten on top and the greeting were attached to the card using Dimensionals. I used Mini Glue Dots to attach the other pieces. Love, love, love how this turned out! Lot's of texture. Here's an angle shot, so maybe you can see some of the texture a little better:
